From Energy Audits to Action: Accelerating the Energy Transition of the Agri-Food Industry
Over three years, the AENEAM LIFE project supported agri-food SMEs across four European countries through energy audits, capacity-building activities, technical assistance, and collaboration between industry stakeholders. Building on this practical experience, the project partners have developed a set of policy recommendations aimed at overcoming the barriers that continue to slow down the energy transition in the sector.
The policy brief highlights key challenges faced by agri-food SMEs, including limited access to finance, fragmented regulations, difficulties in implementing audit recommendations, and constraints related to electrification and energy infrastructure. It proposes concrete actions to improve the quality and impact of energy audits, accelerate industrial electrification, and foster the development of energy communities and collective energy solutions.
