In conversation with Denis Husson, Capital Projects Manager
Why did Maison Fillière join the AENEAM project?
Maison Fillière has long been committed to reducing its environmental footprint and embedding sustainability into its operations through a broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.
The company also had a long-standing relationship with the CRITT Agroalimentaire Sud, a trusted partner that has supported its development for more than ten years. Participating in AENEAM was therefore a natural continuation of its commitment to continuous improvement and sustainable performance.
What challenge was the company trying to address?
For several years, Maison Fillière had been monitoring its energy consumption. However, the company recognised that there was still room for improvement, particularly regarding its energy metering and monitoring systems.
The objective was clear: gain a more accurate understanding of where and how energy was being consumed in order to strengthen its continuous energy performance improvement strategy.
What support did AENEAM provide?
Through AENEAM, Maison Fillière benefited from comprehensive support from the CRITT Agroalimentaire Sud.
The support included:
- A detailed energy audit;
- Guidance on implementing the identified improvement actions;
- Ongoing assistance in developing an Energy Management System (EnMS).
This step-by-step approach enabled the company not only to identify opportunities for improvement but also to move towards their practical implementation.
What results have been achieved?
The energy audit identified several concrete opportunities to improve energy performance.
Among the most significant actions:
- Installation of a regulator on an extraction fan, generating electricity savings of approximately 25 MWh per year;
- Development of a comprehensive and automated electricity metering plan connected to internal systems such as the ERP and climate monitoring tools.
These actions have strengthened the company's ability to monitor, analyse and optimise energy consumption on a continuous basis.
Why was this support important?
The project provided Maison Fillière with a practical roadmap for improving its energy performance.
Beyond identifying technical improvements, the support helped the company:
- Optimise operating practices;
- Identify equipment upgrades;
- Prioritise actions based on their potential impact;
- Build a structured approach to energy management.
The main beneficiaries were operational teams and decision-makers involved in energy management and site performance.
What makes the AENEAM approach different?
According to Maison Fillière, one of the major strengths of AENEAM was access to external experts with a strong understanding of the specific challenges faced by food-processing companies.
Importantly, the support did not stop with the energy audit. The project also helped the company implement actions and establish the foundations of a long-term energy management strategy.
Another key benefit was the continuity of support over nearly two years, enabling the company to move from identifying opportunities to implementing concrete improvements and monitoring their results over time.
What are the next steps?
Maison Fillière intends to continue building on the work initiated through AENEAM.
The implementation of its Energy Management System will allow the company to:
- Monitor energy performance through indicators tailored to its activities;
- Update its action plan regularly;
- Structure a long-term continuous improvement process;
- Support future energy efficiency investments.
Through this approach, Maison Fillière is laying the foundations for a lasting reduction in energy consumption, improved competitiveness, and enhanced environmental performance.
"AENEAM provided us with more than an energy audit. The support helped us move from identifying improvement opportunities to implementing concrete actions and structuring a long-term energy management approach. The expertise of the CRITT Agroalimentaire Sud team and the continuity of support over nearly two years were particularly valuable "
