In conversation with the Quality assurance manager of Le Caselle SpA

Why did Le Caselle join the AENEAM project?

Le Caselle SpA is an Italian SME located in Pontevico, specialising in the production of food dought products. With 45 employees, the company continuously seeks ways to improve operational efficiency and enhance its competitiveness. The company joined AENEAM following a recommendation from Confindustria Brescia, which highlighted the potential benefits of participating in the project.

At the time, Le Caselle was looking for practical solutions to address a key challenge: reducing energy costs while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its operations.

What challenge was the company trying to address?

Like many food manufacturers, Le Caselle faced increasing energy costs and wanted to identify opportunities to improve energy performance.

The company's primary objective was straightforward:

  • Reduce energy-related expenses;
  • Improve energy management;
  • Explore opportunities to strengthen its competitiveness through energy efficiency investments.

What support did AENEAM provide?

Through the AENEAM project, Le Caselle received technical and administrative support during the energy audit process.

The Italian partners, CSMT and Confindustria Brescia, guided the company through procedures and requirements that would have been difficult to navigate independently.

This support helped the company better understand its energy profile, identify suitable improvement measures, and access relevant opportunities linked to energy performance and costs.

What results were achieved?

Participation in AENEAM led to concrete and measurable benefits.

The company implemented a new photovoltaic installation, reducing its dependence on externally purchased electricity.

The expected impact of this investment is significant: approximately €50,000 per year in reduced electricity purchases.

In addition, Le Caselle successfully obtained recognition under the Italian scheme for energy-intensive companies ("energivori"), generating further economic benefits estimated at approximately €60,000 per year.

Together, these measures are expected to deliver around €110,000 in annual savings for the company.

Why was AENEAM important for Le Caselle?

According to the company, the greatest value of the project was the technical and administrative support provided throughout the process.

The guidance received allowed Le Caselle to follow a pathway that it would have struggled to manage without external expertise.

By helping the company navigate technical requirements and administrative procedures, AENEAM enabled faster and more effective implementation of energy-related actions.

What long-term impacts are expected?

The benefits achieved are expected to continue over time.

The photovoltaic installation will provide long-term reductions in electricity costs, while the advantages linked to the company's energy-intensive status will continue to strengthen its competitiveness.

At present, Le Caselle considers that the most beneficial energy efficiency actions identified through the project have already been implemented.
