Why did Terre adélice join the AENEAM project?

Terre adélice, a French manufacturer of ice creams and sorbets based in Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut, joined the AENEAM project to further reduce its environmental footprint, particularly its electricity consumption. As a food production facility with significant energy needs, improving energy performance was a key sustainability priority.

What challenge was the company trying to solve?

The company had already implemented numerous energy-saving measures and considered its production system to be highly optimised. As a result, identifying additional opportunities for improvement had become increasingly difficult.

Terre adélice was looking for external expertise capable of analysing a complex industrial process and uncovering new, high-impact energy efficiency opportunities.

What support did AENEAM provide?

Through the AENEAM project, Terre adélice benefited from an in-depth on-site energy audit carried out by energy experts.

The support included:

• A detailed technical diagnosis of the facility;
• On-site assessments;
• Follow-up discussions and exchanges with experts from CRITT;
• Tailored recommendations adapted to the company's specific energy challenges.

What results were achieved?

The most significant outcome was the identification and implementation of an optimisation measure involving the regulation of the site's primary pump.

This action delivered:

• An annual electricity saving of approximately 30 MWh/year;
• Significant reductions in energy costs;
• An investment of approximately €12,000, financed by the company;
• An expected payback period of around 4 years

In addition, the company has launched a second energy optimisation project involving the replacement of capacitor banks to improve reactive power management and reduce fire risks.

• Investment: approximately €21,000.

Why was the support important?

The support provided through AENEAM was particularly valuable because the company had reached a stage where identifying new energy-saving opportunities internally had become difficult.

• New perspectives on energy performance;

What are the next steps?

The company continues to pursue additional energy efficiency improvements.

Among the actions already underway:

• Installation of further optimisation measures;
• Purchase of a mobile sub-metering device that can be moved across different parts of the facility to analyse energy consumption and identify future opportunities for improvement.

This approach will help Terre adélice continue its journey of continuous improvement and data-driven energy management.
