In conversation with Krzysztof Koszela, a representative of the Management Board of Międzychód
How did the participation to the AENEAM project help Międzychód strengthen its energy management practices ?
The participation in the AENEAM project marked a turning point in the way Międzychód approaches energy management.
The energy audit, the expert guidance received and the recommendations formulated on that basis enabled the company to move from ad hoc measures to structured, systematic energy management aligned with the requirements of ISO 50001.
What has been the most significant outcome of the project?
The most significant result of the project is the launch of an ISO 50001-compliant energy management system. This is a strategic decision: it brings structure to the monitoring of energy consumption, makes it possible to set measurable energy targets, and embeds efficiency improvement in a continuous improvement cycle rather than in isolated initiatives.
What additional results did you achieve?
- Greater energy awareness among the management team and production staff
- A detailed analysis of the plant’s energy consumption profile
- Identification of the areas with the greatest optimisation potential
- Recommendations providing a basis for planning future investments
- The start of implementation of an energy management system in line with ISO 50001
- Preparation of the organisation for long-term improvement in energy efficiency
Following you participation to AENEAM, what are the next steps for the company?
For Międzychód, the participation to AENEAM is the beginning of a broader process. We have planned further measures arising from the audit – above all, investments that increase the efficiency of production processes and the modernisation of the plant’s technical infrastructure.
In the long term, these measures are expected to translate into lower energy costs, stronger competitiveness and greater resilience to fluctuations in energy prices, while at the same time supporting the company’s sustainable development goals.
Any final thoughts?
AENEAM gave us more than knowledge and analytical tools. Above all, it was the impetus for a shift towards informed, systematic energy management – management that is based on data rather than intuition.
